The Phoenix Hotel in San Francisco's Tenderloin district is a historic and cultural icon, famed as a longtime favorite of the rock 'n' roll set since its founding in 1987. Originally a 1950s motor lodge, it transformed into an oasis catering to musicians, artists, and travelers with a creative spirit, boasting guests like David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, and Neil Young. It features a lush courtyard, an art-filled heated pool, and eclectic, mid-century-inspired decor throughout its 44 rooms and suites. The hotel is known for its "funky, irreverent, and young-at-heart" atmosphere. NOTE - The Phoenix Hotel is scheduled to permanently close on January 1, 2026.
